Verbal Reasoning
Children attending our 11+ Courses will be shown Method & Formulas which we have devised on a range of Verbal Reasoning style questions. The CEM Durham Exam Verbal Reasoning is predominately English based. Children need to have an extensive vocabulary as they may be asked opposite meanings, similar meaning, compound words and how to spell them. Most of these questions are multiple choice but at a very high level making it difficult for your child to guess.
We recommend children commence reading classical reading books and make a note of new words and meanings. This will also help with the English comprehension.
Non-verbal Reasoning
We cover a range of Non-Verbal. The previous style exam only used 6 types we now cover more types including cubes and rotating shapes. The CEM Durham exam does not have a strict format to follow, it changes every year, so we have to cover a wide range of types as we do not know what your child is going to be tested on. Non-Verbal is only a small part of this CEM Durham Exam, its main focus being on Maths and English up to Key Stage 2 Level 5.
